Install instructions:
copy both "american revolution_ fight for new england.age3scn" and "american revolution_ fight for new england.bak"
into your: My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Scenario
copy the mp3 "We were soldiers - Sgt. Mackenzie.mp3" into your :\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\Sound
1.01 includes:
-fixed length of cinematics
-no more HC access
-end game stats included
Description:
- Semi Based on the battle that took place in the Ameircan Revolutionary war the "war for independence"
that pushed the British out of America. Characters are based on the movie "The Patriot"
- You play as "Benjamin Martin" (main character in the movie "the patriot" played by Mel Gibson) and have to leed a
Battalion of soldiers into a frontier in the fight for New England
- 5 primary objectives and one secondary objective
Special Features:
- Reinforcements via trade route buildings
- you are allied by a computer player who will fight the main battles for you while you do all the dirty work ;)
- many cinematics outling mission objectives and showing battles
Tips:
- Your artillery is your main tool in this map, if you lose it all the game can become allmost impossible... however you do
recieve additional reinforcements for doing some objectives so even if you think you may have no hope, just pushed to the
next objective you never know when you may be heavily reinforced ;)
- towards the end of the game you will have multiple entry points to the enemy targets, use these points to your advantage
- during the game you will recieve an explorer who can build trade buildings to bring in reinforcements, do your best to keep
him alive as the american explorer cannot be revived, dont know why but in the end i suppose it adds another challange to the map
any critique/suggestions/reviews welcome thanks

i just beat the first objective and nothing happened...i scouted out the rest of the west part of the map and there aren't and loyalists left, but the objective remains unbeaten. also, my explorer cannot build trading posts, he can only train hussars, but i can even do that because im in age 1 and there's no way to get to age 2. help?[Edited on 03/17/06 @ 04:32 PM]

Playability: 5
I experienced no lag at all, easy to play around with
Balance: 4
almost perfectly balanced the way you had reinforcements come, really cool
Creativity: 5
awesome idea, i had a lot of fun playing it
Map Design: 4
I would've given a 5, but there were too many trees which is unrealistic in a battle field
Story/Instructions: 4
great idea, the objectives were pretty clear
Additional Comments:
i loved all the cinematices and the reinforcements and just...wow, great scenario i loved it |

btw, are you gonna try and redo that last samurai one? i love asian stuff and samurai and all that :D so it would be great to see a good scenario with those. Also, you might want to rename the ronin to samurai...ronin means wandering samurai with no master...anyways, i think it would be awesome if you did some kind of scenario with samurai, not necessarily redoing your last one. |

Very nice. No lag. There was the small thing where to get the explorer you had to get Martin there with the army which was a little quirky. Once I saw Shavedwooki's post I was able to get around it. Ability to view postgame would be nice.
Balance: 4
Almost dead on, much better than your Samurai map. I think alot of it had to to with the types of units and the spawn rates.
Creativity: 5
Good idea pretty well executed.
Map Design: 5
I really liked the design for the terrain and density. Having lived all over Virginia, the map reminded me alot of the Yorktown area which does have alot of trees and marshland.
Story/Instructions: 5
I knew what to do, no questions. You even explained the issue with the one explorer not reviving. Seems complete to me.
Additional Comments:
Thanks for making this one. Much better than the last, and on a topic I enjoy. A purist might argue one part of your description since there were multiple battles fought during the Revolution. The one that ended it was the battle at Yorktown. But, who cares, it's a game and it was fun!! Thanks again.

- i did rename the rohin to samurai as you can see if you click on each one individually but for some reason if you click on a whole group of them they are still called rohin :S anyone know how to fix this?.
-and yes I was thinking of making a more detailed scenario with samurai but at the moment am just not sure where to start with a new samurai scenario. I will look into some history on Japan and see if I can find anything interesting, or alternatively I could base it on the entire "The Last Samurai" movie? I dunno any suggestions would be appreciated :) allthough perhaps put them in the Japan-Samurai war thread as it might confuse people to see it here :P.
Finnaly thanks for your review Sentry! and just about the explorer, the reason I added him in as a latter reinforcement was because he was reinforced next to a trade route socket and I figured some people might get him killed straight away at the start without getting at least one trade building built! also im happy you liked this one better than the Samurai one because this one took alot more time than that one :) even though the history isnt really spot on your right its just a game, and games should have fictionality in them the History is just a bonus! :)[Edited on 03/17/06 @ 08:37 PM]

That's pretty much what I think to. Start with history for the idea, but then expand on it. Otherwise it wouldn't be any fun at all; it would just be a re-creation of history which would be like spending the afternoon watching the History channel. I kinda like seeing how many different ways I can make history derail and take a dirt road instead of the one it took. Thanks again, and good job on the map. Glad someone can make them, because I know I can't. |

maybe you should do the new samurai scenario with samurai vs. samurai, like a clan war in feudal japan. With pikemen(reskinned maybe?), samurai, cavalry archers, and hand cavalry. to me, that would be AWESOME. anyways, just a suggestion. again, nice job on this scenario it was awesome |

i may do something like that, but about the pikemen i dont think you can reskin them unfortunately, but does anyone know if there is a way to atleast change their voices so they are the same as the rohin? if not I will try to as much as I can simulate a samurai army/clan with what i have at my disposal like I did with the Japanese-Samurai War. |
